HyGear will be deploying its Hy.GEN system in Q3 of 2017 in Columbia where it will be used by CI SIGRA S.A. for the hydrogenation of edible oil and fats.
The process of hydrogenation involves the use of hydrogen molecules to saturate organic compounds in the presence of a catalyst. For this instance, the hydrogen gas is used to convert liquid oil into margarine. This process prevents oxidation and stabilizes the oil.
The Hy.GEN steam reforming technology reduces costs for hydrogenation significantly as SIGRA replaces its electrolyser systems.
“For HyGear this is an important first step into the food industry and we are happy with the expansion of our markets in this direction”, comments Niels Lanser, HyGear’s Director of Sales & Marketing. “Further, this is the first project we will install through our new partner P-Hydrogen from North America. A knowledgeable partner like P-Hydrogen will help us drive our global expansion as they can support our products locally which further improves our service level”
Providing an alternative solution for end-users of industrial hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen gases, HyGear developed cutting-edge technologies of on-site gas generation. With the combination of these systems and conventional gas distribution methods, we offer the most cost-effective and reliable supply method with a guarantee of 100% up-time.
