Our history
HyGear was founded in 2002 and is ever since on a hydrogen tech mission while being a hydrogen pioneer from the start. At first, we focused on transporting hydrogen with tube trailers and offering hydrogen as a service. However, because the industry evolved, we saw the growing need for reliable turnkey hydrogen systems for on-site production. Stepping up to the challenge, we developed an alternative to traditional hydrogen transport, one that enhances safety, boosts efficiency, and improves cost-effectiveness.
Fast forward to 2023, we became part of HoSt Group, a leading name in renewable energy technology since 1991. Both HoSt Group as well as HyGear share a vision for decarbonization and high-tech systems. Being part of the group has also given us access to a large in-house production facility. And while we realize projects across the globe we also maintain local offices, partnerships, and service teams.
Our mission remains clear: to be a trusted technology partner, supporting companies in staying regulation-compliant, reducing costs, and ensuring a steady and reliable flow of hydrogen and industrial gases exactly where they are needed.
Our mission
Our mission is to deliver turnkey hydrogen technology for on-site hydrogen, biohydrogen, and green hydrogen production, to provide industrial gas recycling and production systems and carbon capture technology. We do this to strengthen efficiency, safety, and sustainability initiatives from the industry. Because many manufacturing industries rely on a steady, low-carbon hydrogen supply, we actively support these sectors. This includes glass production, hydrogen-powered mobility and fuel cell vehicles, metal processing, as well as hydrogenation processes in the food industry.
On-site production help companies stay ahead of regulations, secure a consistent and cost-effective hydrogen supply, reduces dependency on external suppliers, lowers costs, eliminates transport and its emissions as well as the complexities and inefficiencies tied to traditional hydrogen delivery methods.
Proven yet innovative
To stand still is to go backwards. This is why we find it very important to continuously seek collaborations and innovate alongside our robust suite of proven technologies. Both with the business community where our technology is implemented, and with universities for research and development. There are not many companies like HyGear, which offers electrolysis in addition to steam methane reforming. And in addition, a strong range of relevant gas technologies and carbon capture. We like to call us a ‘one-stop-shop’, as we can provide a complete turnkey installation including the service and maintenance.
In-house production facility
Our in-house production facility is the foundation of our operations, both in Arnhem as our location in Poland where our technologies come to life and drive our hydrogen tech mission forward. For robust and high-quality components as part of our high-tech systems, we work together with reliable global suppliers.
What really sets our large in-house production facility in Poland apart is that it blends deep technical knowledge with hands-on experience. This experience ensures that every system meets the highest quality standards. At the same time, our team focuses on optimized workflows for high efficiency, short lead time, and smooth and reliable worldwide shipment.
Research facility & Filling site
At our headquarters in the Netherlands, we conduct tests in our laboratory and at our full-scale testing facility, together one of Europe’s most advanced research facilities. Although we are focused on decentralized on-site hydrogen production systems at the end-customer’s location, we also own a 24/7 hydrogen filling site for local customers including TotalEnergies as trusted customer.
