HyGear completed the construction of a hydrogen production system for Buse Gases Ltd. The hydrogen production system is a Hy.GEN® Compact. Buse Gases will market the produced hydrogen. The realization of this system increases the availability of hydrogen in the UK.
“We are happy to have finalized this project for our valued client Buse Gases Ltd. A reliable supply of high-quality process gases is of importance in most industries. Currently, these gases are mainly supplied by road transportation of compressed or liquefied gas with high costs. HyGear offers on-site hydrogen production systems, for cost-effective, reliable, and sustainable hydrogen”, Henk Kleef, CEO at HyGear.
Hydrogen production system
The realized project at Buse Gases employs a Hy.GEN® system including 12 storage cylinders. The system employs Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) technology to produce hydrogen on-site. By producing hydrogen on-site, the Hy.GEN® reduces the energy typically spent on transporting hydrogen from centralized plants. A process that involves additional compression, storage, and fuel use for delivery vehicles. The system’s design also minimizes energy loss by incorporating efficient heat management, which captures and reuses heat generated during the reforming process. Therefore, this enhances operational flexibility and reduces environmental impact.
