On-site hydrogen & nitrogen
In this partnership, HyGear not only supplied AGC Glass Europe with three Hy.GEN Compact® systems (50 Nm³/hr hydrogen production each) but also provided a Hy.PURE system for nitrogen purification. As a result, the on-site, on-demand hydrogen production ensures that AGC has full control over its process. Furthermore, the purified nitrogen guarantees the high-purity environment needed for the controlled tin bath in flat glass production
Flat glass production with H2 & N2 from HyGear
In this partnership, HyGear delivered three Hy.GEN® systems, each with a capacity of 50 Nm³/hr hydrogen production, and also provided a Hy.PURE® system for nitrogen (N₂) purification. As a result, the on-demand and on-site hydrogen production allows the client, AGC Glass Europe, a flat glass production factory specializing in thin flat glass and specialty glass, to have full control over this process. Meanwhile, the nitrogen purification system ensures a continuous supply of high-purity nitrogen.
Together with the hydrogen, this is essential to establish a controlled tin bath environment for glass production. Specifically, the float glass process relies on floating molten glass on a bed of molten tin with a low melting point. Consequently, this setup provides the client with a reliable supply of high-quality hydrogen and nitrogen gas, while also reducing transport movements. Moreover, it presents an attractive business case and, at the same time, supports the company’s sustainability goals.
